McLaren MP4/2 TAG Porsche - 1984

The 1984 McLaren MP4/2 was one of the most dominant F1 cars in Grand Prix racing History.
Following the introduction in 1984 of the 220-liter fuel limitations as a means of controlling the phenomenal power of turbo engines, the various F1 engine manufacturers found themselves faced with a complicated exercise that required most drivers to monitor their fuel consumption while racing, which resulted sometimes in skewed and relatively unspectacular races.

In this game, it was the TAG-Porsche engine that performed the best with the help of the sophisticated Bosch electronic ignition/injection control, a sequential fuel injection which supplied the fuel to each cylinder just before the firing stroke, each injector working individually. And occasionally some dry ice. The TAG-Porsche fuel efficiency allowed it to race with over 800bhp for the full race distance.

This added to the use of the full carbon monocoque that McLaren was the 1st team to use in racing (if we forget about the isolated case of the 1981 Lotus 88B which never raced actually), the use of the carbon brakes on most occasions, a well balanced and versatile John Barnard chassis with its typical "coke bottle" shape which later became a trend in F1 and single seaters racing in general, the huge technical experience of Niki Lauda, the speed and reliability of Alain Prost, and the highly rigorous management of Ron Dennis, all of this helped make Marlboro McLaren TAG-Porsche the team to beat in 1984, leaving Williams-Honda, Brabham-BMW and Ferrari a few consolation crumbs.

Lauda automobilia tribute

There's no doubt that the incredible return to competition of Austrian champion Niki Lauda after his terrible accident on the Ring in 1976 is one of the most fascinating chapters in motorsport History

The fascination of this event on motorsport fans and also those who are not very interested in this sport is probably due to the fact that it recalls a fundamental theme, namely the return of death, the resurrection, and literally refers to the myth of the PHOENIX! the fire bird that resurrects from flames and its own ashes. In my opinion, nothing illustrates this myth better in modern history than the virtual "resurrection" of the Austrian world champion in 1976.

The story of Lauda's return after this tragedy, which additionally took place on a circuit no less legendary and terrifying, is also the story of Man's triumph over his destiny, further proof of the power of the will.

Monaco Grand Prix Automobilia

Monaco. A magic name for an atypical circuit. Some of the spectators and drivers don't like it because it offers almost no overtaking opportunity, but the overwhelming majority are fascinated by this extraordinary Grand Prix.

It is one of the 3 most prestigious car races in the world with the 24 hours of Le Mans and the 500 miles of Indianapolis.

Most of the time, the result of the race is played out during qualifying, but the unforeseen and surprises are not uncommon in the race.

Monaco is the archetype of urban circuits. A Mediterranean town, a beautiful view of the sea, a roller coaster topography, a festive atmosphere, and of course a glamor and luxury side that borders on excess. This Grand Prix remains the benchmark for all city race organizers. Often imitated, but never equaled.

Slot - Scalextric Monaco circuit

I guess any slot racing and Formula 1 fan have dreamed at least once in their life of a big Monaco Scalextric circuit surrounded by all the Monaco scale model buildings. It's one of those childhood (and big boys) dreams that you know it will remain a dream forever... until someone with enough time, dedication, passion, will and some money (not that much) do it for real.

Here it is!...
