There's no doubt that the incredible return to competition of Austrian champion Niki Lauda after his terrible accident on the Ring in 1976 is one of the most fascinating chapters in motorsport History.
The fascination of this event on motorsport fans and also those who are not very interested in this sport is probably due to the fact that it recalls a fundamental theme, namely the return of death, the resurrection, and literally refers to the myth of the PHOENIX! the fire bird that resurrects from flames and its own ashes. In my opinion, nothing illustrates this myth better in modern history than the virtual "resurrection" of the Austrian world champion in 1976.
The story of Lauda's return after this tragedy, which additionally took place on a circuit no less legendary and terrifying, is also the story of Man's triumph over his destiny, further proof of the power of the will.
