The Bathurst 1000 km race on the Mount Panorama circuit is a myth in Australia and New Zealand. It has been around since 1960, and is a major event in that remote part of the planet which attracts around 200,000 spectators each year.
Its nickname of 'The Great Race' is well deserved since the 1000 km to be covered on the "Mount Panorama" roller coaster are a challenge for any racing driver and car.
The twisty circuit winds through the mountains on a public road closed for the occasion. But we must not forget that there is also this famous straight called Conrod Straight, an abbreviation of "connecting rod" which indicates that the place has long been a graveyard of engines, the fastest cars can go close to 300 km/h there...
